Level 6 - Full-time - Based in Derby
Reporting to the CEO, you'll lead the Shire’s media, communications, community engagement, marketing, and PR. You’ll turn complex policies and projects into clear, accessible stories that build trust and encourage participation. From newsletters and social media to campaigns and media pitches, your work will keep residents informed, engaged, and proud, while reflecting our values: PROUD, POSITIVE, INTEGRITY, RESPECT, RELATIONSHIPS, and COMMITMENT.
What You'll Do
Lead day-to-day media, PR, engagement, and marketing: Build media relationships, pitch positive stories, and manage enquiries.
Draft, edit, and produce content for newsletters (like Babbling Boabs), social media, websites, fact sheets, presentations, and more.
You will simplify technical information into language the community can easily understand.
Plan and deliver campaigns across different channels, monitor digital results, and help increase our reach and impact.
Support community events, surveys, consultations, and internal communications, including staff updates and advice for executives.
Ensure all content matches our corporate identity, manage suppliers, and provide communication training.

Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal, that result in effective and appropriate communication with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft programs, internal applications, efficiency in Adobe design and Photoshop.
Experience in website and social media management, including reporting on statistics.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and to work autonomously to meet multi-tasking requirements.
Proven experience in developing, implementing and managing communication plans and strategies across various platforms.
Qualifications and/or Training:
Experience within Local Government (highly regarded)
Qualification and/or experience in communications, media, PR, or marketing required.
