Job Description

 About the Role:

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from passionate individuals who want to make a real difference in the lives of young people. This is an opportunity to drive positive change through genuine connection, mentorship, and community engagement.

Based at our purpose built Derby Youth Centre on Hardman Street, you will work within a vibrant facility featuring a half basketball court and an adjacent skate park. The centre is a safe, welcoming hub where young people come together to participate in recreational, sporting, and social activities.

What You'll Be Doing

Engage & Connect: Build trusting relationships with young people through positive interactions, and help strengthen their ties to the broader community.

Coordinate Activities: Oversee a safe, inclusive environment for recreational and sporting programs that young people genuinely want to attend.

Build Skills: Foster essential life skills, including mutual respect, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle choices.

Empower: Support young people in understanding their rights, responsibilities, and potential to shape their own futures.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • A genuine interest in working with young people to effect positive change.
  • Ability to engage positively with youth from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to promote mutual respect and healthy choices
  • Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one. 

Desirable:

  • Current "C" Class Driver's Licence
